A Long Time Coming

My apologies for the centuries since I have graced this space with a new blog!

Where do I even start?!?

I guess I will start with my long term sub job that I just finished up. I was oh so blessed to be a sub for Amy Riggs for her maternity leave. It was about 5 1/2 weeks at Walker International elementary school. At first it was uber stressful figuring out everything and doing some lesson planning. However, it was the end of the school year so there was a lot of fun activities including a field trip to the water park, a talent show, and a banana split party.I really learned to love it (and now miss it.)

I fell in love with these kids! They were so smart and funny and kind. I'm really sad that I won't see some of them ever again! I honestly would love to just follow them through school and watch them grow.

Walker has a dual language program so I basically taught two classes. My homeroom were the "All Stars" and I would have them for about half of the day and then we'd switch with my partner teacher, Yusta Flores and then I would get the "Rock Stars." These classes were aptly named. The All Stars were my best students. A lot of smart, well behaved kids. The Rock Stars were the rowdy bunch. They were a lot of fun nonetheless. Here are some pictures from my time with them.

This is my partner teacher, Yusta. She was a dream to work with. I've never met someone so kind, funny and loving. She loved life, people and teaching. It was soo much fun working with her. She always made me laugh. I will miss her greatly!
